Young Adults’ Theatre Group Opportunity!

The Bridgeway Academy Young Adults’ Theatre Group has a few openings for our January through May 2022 term! Bridgeway Academy unites children with autism and other developmental disabilities with outstanding services, highly degreed and credentialed experts in their field, and an inclusive culture. The organization has a mission to inspire the potential and celebrate the ability of every young person we serve.

The group is offered Mondays 4:15-5:15pm beginning Monday, January 10th, and is co-led by a music therapist and a speech therapist. Successful past participants have typically been 18 or older, able to participate in an active 60 minute group with peers, interested in music and musical performance (playing or singing), and targeting goals including social communication, conversation skills, and emotional awareness. We expect to again have an actor/intern from Ohio State University’s Shakespeare and Autism program joining us January through May to offer ideas and guidance. The January to May term includes the member-led creation of a musical, with a performance for families and friends in May.

Cost for each session will be $45 per week for the Music Therapy; speech therapy costs can generally be paid for by Medicaid or Franklin County funding.
