October 20, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Join October’s Ohio Family Town Hall on Technology!
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities and the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council are excited to host the Ohio Family Town Hall on Technology this month to offer a forum for people with developmental disabilities and their families to discuss their personal experiences using technology to promote independence, while connecting people with information about assistive technology and remote support services.
The town hall is Friday, Oct. 20, from 1 to 4:30 PM at the Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 7991 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center, 43035.
During the open forum section of the event, attendees will be encouraged to share
• how technology has improved their lives or the lives of family members
• what types of changes might be beneficial in technology services
• any issues with access
Speakers will be helping DODD and DD Council make informed decisions about the direction of technology services.
DODD Director John Martin will discuss the department’s efforts to expand technology across the state. Participants will hear updates on the latest in assistive technology and remote support services, also known as remote monitoring.
The town hall will be streamed on Facebook Live, where viewers can also participate remotely by commenting about their experiences with technology.
Prepared testimony is NOT required to speak at the event. If you cannot attend but want to share a story about how technology has supported or could support yourself or a family member with a developmental disability, please email Jordan Wagner, Ohio Technology Project coordinator at the Ohio State University Nisonger Center, at jordan.wagner@osumc.edu.
